SBLP Awards Ceremony & Literary Night

“Until the lion learns to write, tales of the hunt will always glorify the hunter.” — African proverb

Who gets to tell Africa’s stories, and what does it take to get those stories into the world?

Chikè Frankie Edozien will moderate a panel at the 2026 Samira Bawumia Literature Prize Awards Ceremony & Literary Night, exploring the future of publishing in Africa. The conversation will examine how books are made, who gets access to the publishing industry, and what needs to change to ensure more African stories find their way to readers.

Join the conversation as writers, publishers, and literary voices come together to celebrate African literature and consider the future of the continent’s publishing industry.
